Soles4Souls Inc., a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting poverty through the distribution of shoes and clothing, announced that it has partnered with FILA ONLINE, the U.S. Ecommerce site for the 102 year old Sportstyle brand FILA.
The #SolePurpose campaign runs from November 15th to December 13th. Customers will be given the opportunity to contribute to those in need when purchasing full price items online. Shoppers will be awarded discounts when donating to Soles4Souls at checkout. In addition to the online donations, #SolePurpose will feature an Instagram contest. Customers are asked to send in a photo of their favorite FILA shoes or their own “souls” doing volunteer work, accompanied by the #SolePurpose hashtag. FILA will award the individual with the best photo submission a $1,000 gift card to Fila.com.
The donations procured through this program will help further Soles4Souls’ anti-poverty mission. A lack of adequate footwear has always had a close relationship with the enormous personal and social costs of global poverty. Experts estimate that approximately 300 million children worldwide – almost as many as the entire U.S. population – live without shoes on their feet. Millions of these children will grow up never having had a pair of shoes, resulting in significant ramifications for their health and well-being. Lacking proper footwear, countless children will not be able or permitted to attend school. And tens of millions of these poverty-stricken, barefoot boys and girls will be infected with soil-transmitted parasitic diseases like hookworm, causing lasting suffering and lifelong debilitation.
